Hepatitis B is irritation and swelling (inflammation) of the liver due to infection with the hepatitis B virus (HBV). It is the most common serious liver infection in the world. The disease has caused epidemics in parts of Asia and Africa and it is endemic in China. Some patients with chronic hepatitis may be treated with antiviral medications or a medication called peginterferon. These medications can decrease or remove hepatitis B from the blood and reduce the risk of cirrhosis and liver cancer. These medications can be extremely costly and eRxCity provides free assistance to uninsured patients in applying for Hepatitis B medication. Disclaimer: eRxCity only assists patients in the application process. We do not determine who is eligible for these types of medication.
